- 1 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup) or Mulyeot (Starch Syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- A pinch of Black Pepper (to taste)
- 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean Chili Paste)
- 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup) or Mulyeot (Starch Syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- A pinch of Black Pepper (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the rice cakes under cold water to prepare them. This helps prevent them from sticking together. Slice the green onion diagonally and cut the flat fish cake into bite-sized pieces. Your delicious Tteokbokki components are ready!
Step 2
In a pot, combine the 600ml of anchovy-kelp broth with 3 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oligodang, 1 Tbsp sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir well to combine the sauce ingredients. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat. This is the base for your flavorful Tteokbokki!
Step 3
Once the sauce is boiling vigorously, add the prepared rice cakes and fish cake. Let them simmer together for about 3-4 minutes, allowing the rice cakes to soften and absorb the delicious sauce.
Step 4
When the rice cakes and fish cake are partially cooked, add the udon noodles. The noodles will soak up the Tteokbokki sauce, making them incredibly tasty. Continue to simmer for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and the noodles are heated through.
Step 5
Now for the final touch! Add the sliced green onions to the pot. Give everything a quick stir to incorporate the fresh green onion flavor into the Tteokbokki.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for another moment. Your delicious Tteokbokki is complete! It’s ready when the rice cakes are fully coated in sauce and the gravy has a slightly thickened consistency. Serve immediately while hot for the best experience!
