Tofu Hamburg Steak
Tofu Hamburg Steak [Healthier with Tofu! No Flour Hamburg Steak!]
Hamburg steak is incredibly delicious, isn’t it? Typically, hamburg steak is made by mixing ground pork and ground beef in a 1:1 ratio. However, I’ve made it even healthier by incorporating mashed tofu in the same proportion! It’s a delightful combination of various vegetables, tofu, pork, and beef, offering a complex and rich flavor profile like a variety gift set. Shall we get cooking?
Ingredients- 200g ground beef
- 200g ground pork
- 200g firm tofu
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 carrot
- 1/2 head broccoli
- 3 eggs
- 4 pinches salt
- 2 pinches black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Finely mince the broccoli florets, carrot, and onion. Prepare them by chopping them into very small pieces. This ensures they blend well into the hamburg steak mixture and create a pleasant texture when cooked.
Step 2
Place the tofu in a resealable plastic bag and mash it thoroughly with your hands. Squeeze out as much excess water as possible to achieve a drier consistency. This step is crucial to prevent the mixture from becoming too wet and losing its shape.
Step 3
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork in a 1:1 ratio.
Step 4
Add the finely chopped vegetables and the squeezed mashed tofu to the bowl with the meats.
Step 5
Season the mixture with 4 pinches of salt and 2 pinches of black pepper. Crack 2 eggs into the bowl to help bind the ingredients together.
Step 6
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly by kneading them together with your hands. It’s important to knead for a considerable amount of time until the mixture is well-combined and slightly sticky. This step ensures the hamburg steaks will hold their shape without falling apart during cooking.
Step 7
Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium heat. Carefully place the shaped hamburg steaks into the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides. Ensure they are cooked through to the center.
Step 8
No hamburg steak meal is complete without a fried egg! Let’s prepare one to top our steak.
Step 9
Pour hamburg steak sauce over the cooked steak and top with the fried egg. For a decorative touch, add some fresh green leaves like lettuce. The ultimate way to enjoy hamburg steak, in my opinion, is to break the runny yolk of a sunny-side-up egg and let it meld with the steak, making it even more moist and delicious! It’s absolutely divine.
