Ingredients

  • 1/2 stalk Green Onion (white part preferred, thinly sliced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced or thinly sliced)
  • 1 packet Ramen (your favorite brand)
  • 1 Egg

Cooking Instructions

First, let’s prepare the aromatic green onions and pungent garlic that will elevate your ramen. Thinly slice the white parts of the green onion. For the garlic, either mince it or slice it thinly to maximize its flavor release.

Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil (or olive oil) in a pan or pot over low heat. Add the sliced green onions and garlic, and sauté slowly until the green onions turn translucent and the garlic becomes fragrant. This slow sauté infuses the oil with their delicious flavors. You can also add the dried vegetable flakes from the ramen packet at this stage and stir-fry them.

Once the oil is richly infused with the aromas of green onion and garlic, pour in 500ml of water (standard for one serving, as per your ramen packet’s instructions) and bring it to a boil over high heat. As the water boils, add the ramen soup base and stir well to dissolve. Feel free to adjust the amount of soup base to your preference.

When the water is boiling vigorously, carefully add the ramen noodles. About 40 seconds after adding the noodles, it’s time for the egg. You can crack the egg directly into the boiling water or lightly beat it in a separate bowl and then gently pour it around the noodles.

After adding the egg, resist the urge to stir vigorously. Let it cook undisturbed for about 1 minute and 50 seconds. This will result in a perfectly soft-boiled egg with a runny yolk that blends beautifully with the rich broth, adding another layer of flavor.

Turn off the heat and transfer the ramen to a bowl. You’ve now created the ultimate ramen, bursting with green onion and garlic aroma! Enjoy it immediately while it’s piping hot for the best experience. Consider serving it with kimchi or pickled radishes for a complete meal.
