Tender Clams and Fragrant Wild Chives Salad
How to Make Delicious Clam and Wild Chive Salad with Seasoning
I received these clams from a friend. Though small, they are packed with flavor, so I tossed them with wild chives and a savory seasoning.
Ingredients- 100g of wild chives
- 100g of shelled cooked clams
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp of soy sauce (for umami)
- 1 Tbsp of sesame oil (for nutty flavor)
- 2 Tbsp of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, for a mild spiciness)
- 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds (for texture and aroma)
- 1 tsp of minced garlic (for depth of flavor)
- 1 Tbsp of soy sauce (for umami)
- 1 Tbsp of sesame oil (for nutty flavor)
- 2 Tbsp of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, for a mild spiciness)
- 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds (for texture and aroma)
- 1 tsp of minced garlic (for depth of flavor)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the clams thoroughly and place them in a pot. Add enough water to cover the clams. Boil the clams, stirring in only one direction from the start, which helps them cook evenly and become more tender. Once one or two clams begin to open, immediately drain them in a colander. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become tough.
Step 2
Even though the clam meat is small, it’s wonderfully plump and packed with a rich, savory taste that gets even better with each chew. This amount will make a satisfying side dish for your meal.
Step 3
Trim the wild chives, removing any soil from the roots and discarding wilted leaves. Wash them thoroughly under running water multiple times. After washing, drain them well in a colander. It’s important to wash them gently to preserve their fresh, aromatic scent.
Step 4
Cut the drained wild chives into roughly three equal pieces. Cutting them too finely might cause their fragrance to dissipate, so aim for a moderate length.
Step 5
In a bowl, combine the prepared wild chives and the cooked clam meat. Add all the seasoning ingredients: soy sauce, sesame oil, gochugaru, toasted sesame seeds, and minced garlic.
Step 6
Now, gently toss and mix everything together with a relaxed hand, being careful not to mash the clam meat. This light touch is key to maintaining the texture. If the seasoning seems off, adjust with more soy sauce or a pinch of salt to your preference. This delicious clam and wild chive salad is perfect served over a bowl of warm rice for a delightful meal!
