Simple Chinese-Style Beef Meatball Stir-Fry Recipe
Mastering a simple Chinese dish can make meal preparation for your family much easier. This recipe is perfect for a quick yet impressive meal.
Main Ingredients- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 red bell pepper (julienned)
- 1/2 green bell pepper (julienned)
Stir-Fry Sauce- 1/2 cup water
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Beef Seasoning- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (cheongju)
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Beef Seasoning- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (cheongju)
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, combine 500g of ground beef with the beef seasoning ingredients: 1 egg, 1/2 cup chopped green onions, 1 Tbsp cornstarch, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 1 Tbsp cooking wine. Mix and knead thoroughly until the mixture becomes sticky and well-combined. This ensures the meatballs hold their shape and have a good texture.
Step 2
Put on disposable vinyl gloves. Take a handful of the seasoned beef mixture and gently form it into small, round meatballs by squeezing it between your thumb and index finger. Aim for bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
Step 3
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully place the formed meatballs into the hot pan and pan-fry them until they are golden brown on all sides. Rotate them gently to ensure even browning without breaking them.
Step 4
In a separate pan, heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion (1), julienned red bell pepper (1/2), and julienned green bell pepper (1/2). Sauté the vegetables until the onion becomes translucent. Don’t overcook them; they should retain a slight crispness.

Prepare the stir-fry sauce by mixing 1/2 cup of water, 2 Tbsp of oyster sauce, and 1 tsp of sesame oil in a small bowl. Stir well until combined.

Add the pan-fried beef meatballs to the pan with the sautéed vegetables. Gently toss them together to combine with the vegetables.
Step 7
Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the meatballs and vegetables. Stir gently to coat everything evenly with the sauce.
Step 8
Bring the sauce to a simmer and then reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and meld with the ingredients. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Your dish is ready!
