  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • Beef (for soup) 100g
  • Radish 140g
  • Green onion 1/4 stalk
  • Cooking oil 1 Tbsp
  • Water 1 L

Seasoning

  • Anchovy sauce 1 Tbsp
  • Soup soy sauce 1 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, drain the excess liquid from the beef. Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces, about 1cm thick and elongated. Peel the radish and slice it thinly, about 0.5cm thick. Finely chop the green onion.

Step 1

Step 2

In a pot, bring plenty of water to a boil. Add the sliced beef and blanch for about 1-2 minutes to remove impurities. Rinse the blanched beef under cold water, drain, and set aside. (This step helps to make the broth clearer.)

Step 2

Step 3

In a clean pot, heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil over high heat. Add the thinly sliced radish and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes translucent. It’s important to sauté the radish until it’s slightly softened and its natural sweetness is released.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the radish is sufficiently sautéed, add the blanched beef to the pot and stir-fry together. Continue to cook until the surface of the beef is lightly browned, which enhances its flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, pour 900ml of cold water into the pot with the sautéed beef and radish. Bring the soup to a rolling boil over high heat. Wait until the broth is bubbling vigorously.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the soup boils, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for another 10-15 minutes until the radish is tender. Then, add 1 Tbsp of anchovy sauce and 1 Tbsp of soup soy sauce. Add all the chopped green onions. If the soup has reduced significantly, add 50-100ml of water to reach your desired consistency. Cover the pot and simmer for about 5 more minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if necessary by adding a little salt or more soup soy sauce according to your preference. Serve warm with rice for a delightful meal!
