  • Servings : 4 servings

Nugget Ingredients
  • 2 chicken breasts (approx. 200-250g)
  • 1/2 block firm tofu (approx. 400g)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour (approx. 30g)
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch (approx. 30g)
  • Plenty of cooking oil (for pan-frying)

Mustard Honey Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 0.5 Tbsp honey (or chili sauce to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the chicken breast. Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to create thin cutlets, then mince them as finely as possible. This step ensures the nuggets will have a very tender texture. (This recipe yields approximately 3-4 servings).

Step 2

Drain the tofu thoroughly by pressing it with paper towels. Place the drained tofu in a bowl and mash it with a fork. Add the finely minced chicken breast to the bowl. Knead the mixture with your hands until it becomes cohesive and sticky, forming a dough. The tofu will make the nuggets incredibly moist and prevent them from being dry.

Step 3

Now, let’s season the mixture. Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour (about 30g), and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch (about 30g). Also, sprinkle in a pinch of black pepper. The cornstarch will help make the nuggets crispier.

Step 4

If you don’t have measuring spoons, approximate the amounts: use about 2 tablespoons of flour and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until the dough is well combined and has a sticky consistency.

Step 5

Prepare a frying pan for cooking the nuggets. Add a generous amount of cooking oil to the pan and preheat it over medium heat. Ensuring the oil is hot enough will prevent the nuggets from sticking and help them brown evenly.

Step 6

Once the pan is hot, spoon about 1 tablespoon of the dough at a time onto the pan, forming round or flattened nugget shapes. Use the back of your spoon or a spatula to gently press down on the dough to shape them. Cook over medium heat.

Step 7

When one side is golden brown, carefully flip the nuggets with a spatula. Cook the other side until it’s also golden brown. The nuggets are fully cooked when the edges look firm and they feel slightly springy when pressed.

Step 8

Transfer the cooked nuggets to a plate lined with paper towels or parchment paper to drain any excess oil. This step helps maintain their crispy texture.

Step 9

Finally, let’s make the dipping sauce. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of whole grain mustard, and 1/2 tablespoon of honey. Mix well. If you prefer a bit of spice, you can substitute the honey with a little chili sauce.

Step 10

Voilà! Your tender, moist, and slightly crispy chicken breast and tofu nuggets are ready! They are incredibly delicious served warm with the dipping sauce. Enjoy your meal!
