Tender and Flavorful LA Galbi BBQ
[Man-Gae Recipe Contest] A Special Treat for Parents on Parent’s Day: Delicious LA Galbi BBQ
As a child, LA Galbi was too expensive, so I could only gaze at it with my eyes. Now that I’m older and can afford to eat it often, I feel a pang of sadness that my parents might not be beside me to share it. With that sentiment in mind, I’ve prepared this LA Galbi BBQ. It’s a dish made with love, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

- 1/2 stalk green onion (white part only)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Allow me to introduce today’s dish: LA Galbi BBQ. This recipe is designed to be incredibly tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Step 2
Prepare the LA Galbi. First, it’s crucial to thoroughly remove any blood. Soak the ribs in cold water for about 2 hours, changing the water once or twice if possible. This step ensures a cleaner flavor and better texture.
Step 3
Finely chop the white parts of the green onion. Thinly sliced green onions not only look appealing as a garnish but also add a delicate onion flavor.
Step 4
Let’s make the special marinade for the LA Galbi BBQ. In a bowl, combine the store-bought BBQ sauce, minced garlic, cooking wine, ginger powder, black pepper, and sesame oil. Mix well. If your BBQ sauce is particularly salty, you can adjust by adding a little soy sauce.
Step 5
Place the drained LA Galbi into a large bowl. Pour the prepared marinade over the ribs. Gently massage the marinade into the meat with your hands, ensuring it penetrates between the ribs.
Step 6
It’s important to thoroughly coat every piece of the LA Galbi, tossing and turning them to ensure the marinade is evenly distributed. Make sure no part of the meat is left uncoated.
Step 7
Transfer the marinated galbi to an airtight container or a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This marinating time allows the flavors to deepen and the meat to become more tender.
Step 8
Heat your oven or a frying pan. Grill the marinated LA Galbi over medium heat, flipping to cook both sides until nicely browned and slightly caramelized. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning and to keep the juices locked inside. If using an oven, bake at 200°C (about 400°F) for 10-15 minutes.
Step 9
Prepare the pine nuts for garnish. Crush them finely using a mortar and pestle or chop them finely with a knife. Sprinkling crushed pine nuts adds a wonderful nutty aroma and visual appeal.
Step 10
Once cooked, cut the LA Galbi into bite-sized pieces and arrange them attractively on a serving plate. Sprinkle the crushed pine nuts generously over the top. You can also add the chopped green onions for extra color and freshness.
Step 11
Your delicious and tender LA Galbi BBQ is now complete! Enjoy this wonderful dish with your loved ones.
