Main Ingredients
- Shrimp 3 handfuls (approx. 200-250g), fresh or frozen
Sweet and Savory Sauce
- Soy sauce 3 Tbsp
- Oligosaccharide 3 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp
- Cooking oil 3 Tbsp
- Water 8 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 1 Tbsp
- Toasted sesame seeds, to taste
- Soy sauce 3 Tbsp
- Oligosaccharide 3 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp
- Cooking oil 3 Tbsp
- Water 8 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 1 Tbsp
- Toasted sesame seeds, to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
If using fresh shrimp, rinse them well. If using frozen shrimp, thaw them completely, rinse, and pat dry to remove excess moisture. Heat 3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the shrimp and stir-fry quickly for 2-3 minutes, just enough to remove any fishy odor and slightly cook them. Once the shrimp start to turn pink, immediately remove them from the pan and set aside in a separate bowl. This step prevents the shrimp from overcooking and becoming tough, ensuring a tender texture.
Step 2
Using the same pan (or a clean one), combine all the sauce ingredients: 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 1 Tbsp sugar, and 8 Tbsp water. Stir well to combine. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent the sauce from burning. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and then immediately turn off the heat. Avoid boiling for too long, as the sauce can become too thick.
Step 3
After removing the sauce from the heat, return the pre-stir-fried shrimp to the pan. The residual heat from the sauce will help the shrimp absorb the flavors beautifully. Gently toss the shrimp to coat them evenly with the sauce.
Step 4
Finally, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for added aroma and flavor. Adding sesame oil at the end helps preserve its fragrant scent.
Step 5
Sprinkle a generous amount of toasted sesame seeds for extra nuttiness and visual appeal. Lightly crushing the sesame seeds before sprinkling can enhance their flavor.
Step 6
Transfer the well-coated stir-fried shrimp to a serving dish. Your delicious shrimp side dish is now complete! It’s wonderful served over hot rice for a quick meal or packed as a lunchbox side.
