Tender and Delicious Bulgogi (Korean Marinated Beef)
Super Easy Bulgogi Recipe – A Main Dish the Whole Family Will Love
It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t love bulgogi! It’s truly a beloved dish. With just a plate of bulgogi, you can enjoy a delicious meal without needing many side dishes. Let’s make an easy bulgogi today!
Main Ingredients- 300g thinly sliced beef for bulgogi
- 1 handful of oyster mushrooms (about 50g)
- Small amount of carrot (about 1/4 medium carrot)
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1/2 stalk green onion
- 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gently pat the thinly sliced beef with paper towels to remove any excess blood. This helps reduce any gamey odor and allows the marinade to penetrate better. Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces as desired.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the prepared beef with 1.5 tablespoons of minced garlic and 0.5 tablespoon of sugar. The sugar not only sweetens but also helps tenderize the meat and gives it a nice sheen.
Step 3
Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce and a pinch of black pepper. Gently mix and massage the ingredients into the beef with your hands, ensuring the marinade coats every piece. Be careful not to over-mix, which can make the meat tough.
Step 4
Cover the marinated beef with plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. For an even richer flavor, marinate for about an hour.
Step 5
Now, let’s start cooking! Heat a pan over medium heat without any oil. Add the marinated beef, oyster mushrooms (torn or sliced), and thinly julienned carrots. Stir-fry until the beef starts to change color.
Step 6
Once the beef is no longer pink and is starting to cook through, add the thinly sliced onion. Continue to stir-fry until the onions soften and become translucent. The sweetness of the onion complements the beef beautifully.
Step 7
When the vegetables are tender and the beef is almost fully cooked, add the sliced green onions. Stir-fry for another minute or two until the green onions are fragrant and slightly softened. They add a fresh, aromatic touch.
Step 8
Turn off the heat. Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Give it a final mix, and your delicious bulgogi is ready! Serve it over hot steamed rice for a delightful bulgogi bowl, or enjoy it wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves with your favorite banchan.
