Ingredients
- 150ml Heavy Cream
- 1.5 Tbsp Sugar
- 0.5-1 tsp Salt
- 2 sticks Instant Coffee (Kanu Mini Mild Roast)
- 50ml Hot Water
- Ice
- 30ml Oligosaccharide Syrup
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s make the star of our salted coffee: a smooth sea salt cream. In a mixing bowl, combine 150ml of heavy cream, 1.5 tablespoons of sugar, and about 0.5-1 teaspoon of salt. Place this bowl over another bowl filled with ice (like a double boiler) and whip the cream. Using a whisk or electric mixer, whip until it reaches a soft, pourable consistency, rather than stiff peaks. The cream should be fluid enough to gently pour over the coffee; if it’s too firm, it won’t settle nicely on top.
Step 2
Prepare a rich and flavorful coffee base. Dissolve 2 sticks of instant coffee in 50ml of hot water to create a concentrated coffee shot. Stir well to ensure the coffee dissolves completely.
Step 3
Fill your serving cup about two-thirds full with ice cubes. Plenty of ice will ensure your coffee stays refreshingly cold.
Step 4
Add 30ml of oligosaccharide syrup over the ice for sweetness. You can substitute this with other syrups or honey if preferred.
Step 5
Gently pour cold water until it reaches the level of the ice. This dilutes the coffee base to the right strength and ensures the ingredients meld well.
Step 6
Carefully pour in the 50ml of concentrated coffee you prepared earlier. You’ll soon notice the robust aroma of the coffee.
Step 7
Finally, generously top off the cup with the velvety sea salt cream you made. Your homemade cafe-style salted coffee is ready! Give it a gentle stir before sipping to enjoy the perfect harmony of sweet, salty, and bitter coffee notes.
