Sweet Summer Yellow Peach Preserve

Making Homemade Sweet Peach Preserve with Seasonal Yellow Peaches

Sweet Summer Yellow Peach Preserve

As the weather gets warmer, you might lose your appetite, but you still need energy! I’ve found a delicious solution with this wonderful fruit. While it’s delightful as a refreshing summer drink, nothing beats biting into a juicy yellow peach with its skin peeled back. This recipe uses those incredibly flavorful yellow peaches to create a delicious peach preserve that you can enjoy for a long time. Served over yogurt, it’s creamy, sweet, and bursting with peach aroma – simply irresistible! This recipe is perfect for using firm yellow peaches (sometimes called ‘hard’ peaches) and even works with white peaches if you prefer.

Main Ingredients

  • 2 Yellow Peaches
  • 1 cup Sugar (approx. 200g)
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice

Peach Washing Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Tbsp Vinegar

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Thoroughly washing the peaches is key! First, gently rub the peaches with baking soda to remove any surface impurities. Then, immerse the peaches in a solution of water mixed with 1 tablespoon of vinegar for about 5 minutes. After soaking, rinse them thoroughly under running water and pat them completely dry. Remove the pits from the prepared peaches and dice them into small, bite-sized pieces.

Step 1

Step 2

In a bowl with the finely diced peaches, add 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved. If your peaches are very sweet and you plan to consume the preserve relatively quickly (not for long-term storage), you can reduce the sugar to about 60-70% of the peach’s weight. (The standard fruit-to-sugar ratio is 1:1, but feel free to adjust to your taste!). Transfer the mixture into a sterilized glass jar that has been boiled and thoroughly dried. Ensure the jar is completely dry before adding the mixture.

Step 2

Step 3

To create a delicious snack, simply spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the finished peach preserve over plain yogurt. The sweet and fragrant peach flavor elevates the yogurt, making it a wonderful treat. This is one of my go-to snacks these days!

Step 3

Step 4

Let’s explore the amazing benefits of peaches! Peaches are alkaline foods that help boost our immune system and stimulate appetite. They are also beneficial for developmental issues and night blindness, and they help soften the intestines to relieve constipation. Peach peels have excellent detoxification properties, and their organic acids can help remove nicotine and neutralize toxins. Furthermore, peaches contain compounds that inhibit the formation of nitrosamine, a known carcinogen. (Source: Naver Encyclopedia)

This homemade peach preserve is incredibly versatile during the summer months. You can mix it with sparkling water to make a refreshing peach ade, or serve it with yogurt for a delightfully healthy snack. Enjoy the sweet taste of summer with this easy-to-make fruit preserve!
