This sweet and savory Vienna sausage stir-fry is a crowd-pleaser, perfect for kids’ meals or as a delicious accompaniment to your favorite drinks. For those who enjoy a bit of spice, add some Korean chili peppers (Cheongyang peppers). If you’re making this for children or prefer a milder taste, consider using bell peppers instead. This versatile dish is sure to be a hit!
Main Ingredients- 1 pack Vienna sausages (approx. 110g)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/4 carrot
- 2 Korean chili peppers (optional, adjust for spice level)
Sauce Ingredients- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 3 Tbsp ketchup

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the Vienna sausages by making them visually appealing. Lightly score the sausages diagonally 2-3 times with a knife. This not only makes them look nicer when cooked but also helps the sauce to penetrate better.
Step 2
To maintain the sausages’ firm texture and remove any impurities, blanch them in boiling water for about 10 seconds. Be careful not to overcook, as this can make the sausages mushy.
Step 3
Prepare the vegetables by cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Dice the onion and carrot into roughly 1cm cubes. Finely chop the Korean chili peppers after removing the seeds. (If you prefer less spice, you can substitute bell peppers or green peppers for the chili peppers.)
Step 4
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the blanched Vienna sausages and stir-fry until they are lightly browned. Once the sausages are partially cooked, add the prepared onion and carrot and continue to stir-fry together until the vegetables are slightly tender.
Step 5
When the edges of the onion begin to turn translucent, add all the sauce ingredients: ketchup, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir well to combine. It’s best to cook over medium heat to prevent burning and ensure the sauce blends beautifully with the ingredients.
Step 6
Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes over medium heat until the sauce thickens slightly and coats all the ingredients evenly. Once everything is well combined, your delicious Vienna sausage stir-fry is ready! Serve hot with rice or enjoy it as a delightful snack with a cold beverage.
