Main Ingredients

  • 4-6 medium to large potatoes (about 2 per person)
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 Tbsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper

Seasoning & Garnish

  • 2 Tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of dried parsley (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s start by preparing the potatoes. You’ll need about 4 to 6 medium to large potatoes, which should yield enough for 2-3 servings. If you’re serving one person, about 2 medium potatoes will be a satisfying portion.

Step 1

Step 2

Use a vegetable peeler to carefully remove the skin from the potatoes. If you prefer to leave the skin on, ensure you wash them thoroughly and skip this step.

Step 2

Step 3

Rinse the peeled potatoes under running water to ensure they are clean. Pat them dry thoroughly. Now, cut them into bite-sized pieces. For medium potatoes, aim for about 4 wedges each, and for larger potatoes, about 6 wedges. If you have small, baby potatoes, you can use them whole!

Step 3

Step 4

Melt about 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat. This step helps infuse the potatoes with delicious buttery flavor as they cook.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the butter has melted, add the prepared potato pieces to the pan. Toss them gently to coat each piece with the melted butter and begin cooking.

Step 5

Step 6

As the potatoes start to soften, season them with 1/2 tablespoon of salt (remember, you can always add more, but you can’t take it away!). Then, add a pinch of black pepper to enhance their flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Continue to cook the potatoes, turning them occasionally, for at least 5 minutes, or until they are tender. To check for doneness, insert a fork or a skewer into a larger piece – it should slide in easily. If it feels resistant, the potatoes need a bit more time. Be careful not to cook on high heat, as this can burn the outside before the inside is cooked.

Step 7

Step 8

Once the potatoes are fully cooked and tender, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar evenly over them. You can adjust the amount of sugar to suit your personal preference for sweetness.

Step 8

Step 9

Stir everything together quickly over low heat until the sugar is well distributed and begins to melt, coating the potatoes. This creates a lovely caramel glaze.

Step 9

Step 10

Transfer the finished butter-roasted potatoes to a serving plate. For an extra touch, sprinkle a little dried parsley on top. You’ll have a wonderfully textured snack with a sweet, crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior – perfect for any occasion!
