Main Ingredients
  • 4 apples (medium-sized)
  • 2 cups water (approx. 400ml)
  • 1 cup sugar (approx. 200g, adjustable to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Thoroughly wash the apples using baking soda or vinegar. Then, remove the core with a knife, peel the skin, and dice them into bite-sized pieces of about 1 to 1.5 cm. For a smoother consistency, you can use a blender or food processor.

Step 2

You can adjust the size of the diced apples according to your preference. If you prefer more texture, cut them larger; if you want a smoother jam, dice them smaller. Using a blender will result in a very smooth jam without lumps.

Step 3

Now, prepare a pot for making the jam. Add the diced apples, 2 cups of clean water, and 1 cup of sugar to the pot. If you prefer a sweeter jam, you can increase the sugar to 1.2 cups (approx. 240g). Start boiling over high heat.

Step 4

Initially, boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat once it starts boiling. To prevent the jam from sticking to the bottom of the pot, gently stir with a wooden spatula every so often and simmer for about 30 minutes. The jam is ready when it becomes thick and the apples turn translucent. Keep in mind that it will thicken further as it cools.

Step 5

To prepare French toast, in a wide bowl, crack 1 egg, add 1/3 cup of fresh milk, and a pinch of salt for flavor. Whisk well with a whisk or fork until thoroughly combined. It’s important to whisk until smooth without any lumps of egg.

Step 6

Dip slices of bread into the prepared egg mixture, ensuring they are fully soaked on both sides. Let the bread absorb the egg mixture completely. Heat a pan with a generous amount of cooking oil or butter, and cook the soaked bread slices over medium-low heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Serve the delicious French toast with a generous dollop of warm apple jam!
