  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt

Sweet Caramel Sauce Ingredients

  • Store-bought caramel sauce (or homemade caramel sauce)
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 30g water
  • 100g heavy cream

Cooking Instructions

Place a deep pot or wok over medium heat and melt the butter first. Once fully melted, add all 2 cups of popcorn kernels. Cover with a lid and maintain medium-high heat initially.

As soon as the kernels start popping, reduce the heat to medium. When the popping sound slows down, lower the heat to low and gently shake the pot to ensure even cooking. Once there are no more popping sounds, turn off the heat immediately. Sprinkle the 1/2 tsp of fine salt over the warm popcorn and shake to combine evenly. This completes your basic popcorn.

Now it’s time to coat it with delicious caramel! (Refer to separate recipe: @6950399) Place the pot back on low heat and pour in the prepared caramel sauce (or your homemade sauce). Add the popped popcorn and quickly stir with chopsticks or a spatula until the caramel evenly coats all the popcorn. It’s important to mix thoroughly. Once the popcorn is coated, turn off the heat immediately, even if it looks a bit soft. Overcooking will make it hard as it cools. To prevent clumping, gently separate the popcorn with chopsticks or your hands as it cools. The caramel will naturally become crispy as it sets. Your sweet and savory homemade caramel popcorn is ready! It’s best enjoyed right away while warm.
