  • 2 Sweet Corn Cobs
  • Pinch of Salt (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Carefully peel away the outer husks from the sweet corn, layer by layer. It’s best to remove all the thick outer leaves.

Step 2

Leave about 1-2 layers of the inner husks attached to the corn. Trim off the silky tassels at the top. Keeping some inner husks helps retain moisture, ensuring a juicier result.

Step 3

If you plan to store any unpeeled corn for later, wrap the portion you’re keeping with the inner husks in a damp paper towel. This helps prevent the corn from drying out.

Step 4

Place the prepared sweet corn in a microwave-safe dish. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the corn, if desired. The salt can enhance the natural sweetness of the corn.

Step 5

Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap. Then, poke 2-3 small holes in the plastic wrap using a toothpick or fork. These vents allow steam to escape, preventing the corn from bursting and ensuring even cooking.

Step 6

Microwave on high for 5-6 minutes for two cobs. The exact cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage and how you like your corn cooked. For a chewier texture, add an extra minute or two.

Step 7

Once done, carefully remove the hot corn from the microwave. You’ll have perfectly steamed, crisp, tender, and sweet corn kernels ready to enjoy! For an extra treat, you can add a small pat of butter to melt over the top.
