Sweet Baked Sweet Potato with Butter and Cream Cheese: A Burst of Flavor!
How to Make Delicious Baked Sweet Potato with Butter and Cream Cheese
While watching videos of tomahawk and T-bone steaks being grilled on YouTube, I suddenly craved steak. Thankfully, I found a seasoned, vacuum-sealed steak in my freezer! I had planned to make roasted potatoes on the side, but only small potatoes were left. So, I decided to make this delightful butter-baked sweet potato instead. The natural sweetness and tenderness of the sweet potato are enhanced by the rich, savory butter and creamy cheese, creating a truly fantastic taste. It’s perfect as a side dish for a special meal, a delightful snack for kids, or a standout item for a home party. Experience this magical flavor in your own kitchen right now!
Main Ingredients
- 3 medium sweet potatoes
- 15g cream cheese
- 15g unsalted butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the sweet potatoes under running water, keeping the skin on. Baking with the skin on enhances the flavor. After patting them dry, proceed to the next step.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and room-temperature butter in a 1:1 ratio. Using a spatula or fork, mix them together until completely smooth and lump-free. It should resemble a creamy, savory spread.
Step 3
Place the washed sweet potatoes in a preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Sweet potatoes cook much faster than regular potatoes, so this step will partially soften them. Aim for an oven temperature of around 190°C (375°F).
Step 4
After 15 minutes, remove the sweet potatoes from the oven. Using a knife, make a deep cross-shaped slit on the top of each sweet potato. Be careful not to cut all the way through, which could cause the potato to fall apart. Once slit, wrap each sweet potato securely in aluminum foil. Return them to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes. This step ensures the sweet potatoes are cooked through and wonderfully tender inside.
Step 5
Take the foil-wrapped sweet potatoes out of the oven again. Generously fill the cross-shaped slits with the prepared butter and cream cheese mixture. A spoon or small spatula works well for this. Sprinkle a little dried parsley over the top for added color and aroma.
Step 6
Place the sweet potatoes, now filled with butter and cream cheese, back onto the baking sheet. Turn off the oven and let the residual heat gently warm the sweet potatoes for about 5 minutes. This allows the butter and cream cheese mixture to slowly melt and seep into the sweet potato, creating a richer, deeper flavor.
Step 7
The delicious baked sweet potato, with its naturally sweet and tender flesh complemented by the rich, melted butter and cream cheese, is ready to be enjoyed! Serve immediately while warm to best savor its delightful flavor. Enjoy it as a perfect accompaniment to a salad or steak for a truly complete meal.
