Main Ingredients
- 1 block Firm Tofu (large)
- 1/2 Green Onion
Braising Sauce
- 6 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 cup Water (standard paper cup)
- 6 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 cup Water (standard paper cup)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 1 block of firm tofu (large size). Slice it into pieces that are not too thin, about 1.5-2 cm thick, to prevent them from breaking apart.
Step 2
Grease a pot or pan with 1 Tbsp of cooking oil and spread it evenly across the bottom. This helps prevent the tofu from sticking. Arrange the sliced tofu pieces in the pot or pan, slightly overlapping them so they don’t cover each other completely.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the delicious braising sauce! In a bowl, combine 6 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 3 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 1 tsp sugar, and 1 tsp sesame oil. Mix well. Finely chop the green onion.
Step 4
Pour the prepared braising sauce evenly over the tofu slices arranged in the pot. Rinse the sauce bowl with 1 cup of water (using a standard paper cup) and add this water to the pot as well. This ensures all the sauce is used and helps create a moist braise.
Step 5
Now it’s time to braise the tofu over high heat. Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to simmer, being careful not to burn the sauce. Periodically, spoon some of the braising liquid over the tofu. This helps the flavor penetrate evenly and makes the tofu even more delicious.
Step 6
Continue to simmer until most of the braising liquid has reduced and the tofu is glossy. You’ll have a wonderfully sweet and savory Dubu Jorim that both kids and adults will love! Serve with warm rice for a delightful meal.
