Main Ingredients
  • 3 medium sweet potatoes, cooked (steamed or boiled)
  • 2 cups milk (approx. 400ml)
  • 1.5 cups glutinous rice flour (approx. 150g)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)

Garnish (Optional)
  • A little nuts (e.g., sliced almonds, walnuts)
  • A pinch of parsley flakes

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly and peel them. Steam or boil until completely tender. While still warm, mash them with a fork or potato masher until smooth, or process in a blender to create a fine purée. If the sweet potato is particularly dry, you can add a little milk while mashing to achieve a smoother consistency.

Step 2

Place the prepared sweet potato purée into a pot over medium heat. Pour in the 2 cups of milk. Using a whisk or spatula, stir continuously until the sweet potato purée and milk are well combined without any lumps. Be sure to stir constantly to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pot.

Step 3

Once the sweet potato and milk mixture begins to simmer and gently bubble, reduce the heat to low. Gradually add the 1.5 cups of glutinous rice flour and 3 tablespoons of sugar, stirring quickly to prevent clumps from forming. Keep stirring as you add the rice flour to ensure a smooth mixture.

Step 4

Continue to stir and cook over low heat for about 5-10 minutes, or until the glutinous rice flour is fully cooked, and the raw flour taste and smell have disappeared. The soup will thicken to a smooth, creamy texture. Cook until it becomes difficult to stir, then remove from heat.

Step 5

Ladle the warm sweet potato cream soup into bowls. For an enhanced texture and nutty flavor, sprinkle generously with your favorite nuts, such as sliced almonds or chopped walnuts. A final touch of parsley flakes adds a beautiful visual appeal.

Step 6

Enjoy this warm and comforting sweet potato cream soup! Its sweet and creamy flavor is sure to be loved by everyone, young and old. Savor every spoonful and stay healthy! 😊
