Super Simple Wakame Soup with Bibigo Seollongtang Base
Effortless Wakame Soup in Minutes Using Bibigo Seollongtang
Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to show you a super easy and quick way to make delicious wakame soup using the Bibigo Seollongtang (beef bone soup) you might have in your fridge. Normally, making wakame soup can take a long time to get a good broth, but using seollongtang saves you time and adds a rich depth of flavor. I was curious if using a pre-made seollongtang would make the soup taste bland, but it turned out wonderfully! While seollongtang is often used for soups and stews, it pairs surprisingly well with a simple dish like wakame soup. Thanks to Bibigo Seollongtang, a fantastic bowl of wakame soup was ready in no time. Let’s walk through the recipe from ingredient preparation to the final delicious dish!
Main Ingredients
- Dried Wakame seaweed 4g (about a handful)
- Beef (for soup) 42g
- Sesame oil 1 Tbsp
- Bibigo Seollongtang 300g (1 pack)
- Water 400ml
- Salt (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 4g of dried wakame seaweed. Soak it in lukewarm water for about 30 minutes until fully rehydrated. Once rehydrated, rinse the wakame thoroughly, squeeze out excess water, and cut it into bite-sized pieces. This soaking process makes the seaweed nice and tender.
Step 2
Heat 1 Tbsp of sesame oil in a pot over medium heat. Add 42g of beef and stir-fry until it’s cooked through and has a nice color. Once the beef is browned, add the rehydrated wakame seaweed and continue to stir-fry together. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until you can smell the fragrant aroma of the wakame and it has softened slightly. Stir-frying beforehand adds a deeper flavor to the soup. Now, instead of water, pour in one 300g pack of Bibigo Seollongtang.
Step 3
After adding the seollongtang, bring it to a boil over high heat and simmer for about 8 minutes. It’s natural for the seollongtang broth to reduce and thicken as it cooks, so don’t be alarmed! Once the broth has reduced a bit, add the pre-measured 400ml of water. Then, season with salt to your preference. Adding a little minced garlic can enhance the flavor even further, so feel free to include it. Your delicious Bibigo Seollongtang Wakame Soup is now ready! Enjoy it warm.
