Super Simple Stir-Fried Fish Cakes: A Classic Side Dish
Stir-Fried Fish Cakes: A Delicious Side Dish Made with Simple Ingredients!
Perfect for students living alone! This recipe for stir-fried fish cakes uses minimal ingredients and an easy process to create a fantastic side dish.
Main Ingredients- 1/4 Onion
- A little bit of Green Onion (scallion)
- 1 pack of square fish cakes
Seasoning Ingredients- 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. Prepare the vegetables: thinly slice 1/4 onion and diagonally cut the green onion. Adding these vegetables makes the dish more interesting than just fish cakes and enhances the overall flavor.
Step 2
2. Cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. I prefer them cut generously for a good chew, but feel free to cut them smaller or longer according to your preference!
Step 3
3. In a pan, heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil and 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic over low heat to create garlic-infused oil. This gentle heating will release a subtle garlic aroma and add a savory depth, making it a perfect partner for rice.
Step 4
4. Add the prepared fish cakes to the pan with the garlic oil and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Then, add the sliced onion and green onion and continue to stir-fry until the vegetables begin to soften. Once they look wilted and the fish cakes are glossy, quickly stir in 2 Tbsp of soy sauce and 1 Tbsp of sugar. Finally, drizzle in 0.5 Tbsp of sesame oil and sprinkle with a pinch of sesame seeds to finish.
Step 5
This is a fantastic side dish because it’s incredibly easy and inexpensive to make! It’s a must-try recipe, especially for those living alone on a budget.
