Main Ingredients
- 1/2 can Spam (or desired amount)
- Generous amount of seasoned seaweed flakes (Gimjaban)
- 50g pickled radish (Danmuji), finely chopped (about 3-4 pieces)
- 1 bowl of cooked rice
- 2-3 pinches of furikake (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Cut the Spam into bite-sized pieces (cubes or strips) or place it in a plastic bag and mash it with a rolling pin for a softer texture. Lightly oil a pan and pan-fry the Spam until golden brown. (Optional, can be skipped if preferred)
Step 2
Finely chop the pickled radish. This step enhances the texture and ensures the flavors are well-distributed when mixed with the rice.
Step 3
Place one bowl of warm cooked rice into a large bowl. Artfully arrange the mashed or fried Spam and the finely chopped pickled radish on top of the rice.
Step 4
Drizzle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over the rice and toppings to add a rich, nutty aroma.
Step 5
Now, generously sprinkle the seasoned seaweed flakes (Gimjaban) and furikake for a delightful crunch and savory taste. You can crumble the seaweed flakes before adding them or add them as they are.
Step 6
Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined. It’s important to mix gently to avoid clumping the rice.
Step 7
Finally, add a generous amount of mayonnaise as desired to complete the dish! The creamy mayonnaise complements the savory Spam and the sweet-and-sour pickled radish, creating a richer flavor profile. Enjoy your meal!
