Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Today, we’re going to make a savory and slightly sweet side dish that kids absolutely adore, one that will make them finish their rice in no time! This Cheongpomuk Muchim is so easy to make, even beginners can follow along and create a delicious meal. It’s a fantastic appetizer or a simple banchan.
Step 2
First, prepare one block of Cheongpomuk. For an even softer and more pleasant texture, you can lightly blanch the mung bean jelly in boiling water. (Optional: Boil for 2-3 minutes, then rinse in cold water and drain). Once blanched, cut the jelly into bite-sized pieces. Slicing it about 1-1.5cm thick usually gives a nice chew.
Step 3
Place the cut Cheongpomuk into a mixing bowl. Now, add all the seasoning ingredients: 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds. Lastly, prepare a handful of Gimjaban (seasoned seaweed flakes) to add a wonderful nutty flavor and texture.
Step 4
Gently mix everything together with your hands. Be careful not to break the jelly as you toss it to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed. Once you’ve lightly incorporated the Gimjaban, your incredibly addictive Cheongpomuk Muchim is ready! It truly requires no special culinary skills, just a few simple steps.
