DIY: The Secret to Making Soft, Fluffy Steamed Eggs in 5 Minutes!
Feeling hungry when you’re home alone? When ordering food feels like too much hassle, this incredibly simple, moist, and fluffy steamed egg recipe is perfect for you. I tried making it myself, and it was absolutely delicious! It’s an effortless recipe that’s ready in minutes using just your microwave.
Main Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 1 ladle of Water (or broth, approx. 100ml)
Seasoning
- Salt to taste
- Salt to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully crack 2 eggs into a clean bowl. Gently whisk them with a fork or whisk until the yolks and whites are well combined. Avoid over-whisking to prevent too much foam.
Step 2
Add salt to season the eggs. Adjust the saltiness according to your preference. It’s best to start with a small amount and add more later after tasting.
Step 3
Gently mix the egg mixture using a whisk or chopsticks until smooth. It’s good to stir just enough to combine the eggs without creating too much foam.
Step 4
Now, add water or broth to make the steamed eggs moist. Instead of plain water, using dashi broth or anchovy broth will add a deeper umami flavor. About half a cup (100ml) is usually sufficient.
Step 5
After adding the liquid, taste and add more salt if needed. Steamed eggs are best when they are delicately seasoned, so be careful not to make them too salty.
Step 6
Cover the bowl containing the egg mixture (ensure it’s microwave-safe) with plastic wrap, a lid, or foil. This prevents moisture from escaping during cooking, ensuring a wonderfully moist result.
Step 7
Place the covered bowl in the microwave and cook on high power for about 5-7 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage, so check for doneness. You can test if it’s cooked by inserting a toothpick; if it comes out clean, it’s ready.
Step 8
Carefully remove from the microwave and enjoy! Warm, soft steamed eggs are a great side dish with rice or a satisfying meal on their own. You can also garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for extra flair.
