Super Simple Microwave Steamed Eggs
Quick and Easy Microwave Steamed Egg Recipe
This is a simple and delicious steamed egg recipe, perfect for those living alone or new to cooking. It’s also a wonderful late-night snack! (We don’t recommend using a regular cup, as it might overflow!)
Ingredients- 2 large eggs
- About 120ml water or milk
- About 5cm of green onion or scallion
- 2 pinches of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, crack the 2 eggs into a microwave-safe bowl or a small earthenware pot. Gently whisk them to create a smoother texture.
Step 2
Finely chop the green onion or scallion. Having the green onions pre-chopped makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 3
Pour approximately 120ml of water or milk into the bowl with the whisked eggs. Using water will result in a lighter taste, while milk will make the steamed eggs creamier and richer. Choose according to your preference.
Step 4
Add 2 pinches of salt to season the mixture. This step is crucial for adding the fundamental savory flavor to your steamed eggs.
Step 5
Add the pre-chopped green onions to the egg mixture and stir lightly. The fragrant green onions will enhance the overall flavor of the steamed eggs.
Step 6
Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap, and then poke 1-2 small holes in the wrap. This allows steam to escape, preventing the egg mixture from exploding. Microwave on high power (700W) for about 4 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage, so check for doneness and adjust the time as needed. Overcooking can make the eggs dry and rubbery.
