Egg Mixture
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water (approx. 180ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (approx. 2.5g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the base for your steamed egg: the egg mixture. In a medium bowl, crack 3 large eggs. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Using a whisk or chopsticks, gently beat the eggs until the yolks and whites are well combined and no streaks remain. Ensure the salt is fully dissolved.

Step 2

Once the eggs are beaten, pour in 1 cup (approximately 180ml) of water and whisk gently to combine. The water-to-egg ratio is key to achieving a smooth, custardy texture, so try to stick to the measurements. Pour this mixture into a microwave-safe bowl or ramekin.

Step 3

For a touch of flavor and visual appeal, sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds over the egg mixture. Place the bowl in the microwave and cook on high power for approximately 4 minutes. Microwave wattages vary, so it’s a good idea to start with 3 minutes and 30 seconds, then check for doneness. The egg should be set and slightly jiggly in the center. If not fully cooked, microwave in 30-second increments.
