Make this wonderful pollack roe dish in under 5 minutes!
Main Ingredients- 2-3 Pollack Roe (adjust to your preference)
- 1/3 stalk of Scallion (white part)
- 1/2 Cheongyang chili pepper (adjust spiciness)
Seasoning- 0.5 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 0.5 Tbsp Plum Extract (adjust sweetness)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 0.5 Tbsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 0.5 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 0.5 Tbsp Plum Extract (adjust sweetness)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 0.5 Tbsp Red Pepper Flakes
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the pollack roe. Cut the pollack roe into bite-sized pieces. You can make gentle cuts as if scoring them. Place the cut pollack roe into a microwave-safe container. If the roe is very large, you can also halve it before placing it in the container.
Step 2
Next, prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the white parts of the scallions. Seed the Cheongyang chili pepper and mince it finely. Sprinkle the prepared scallions and chili pepper evenly over the pollack roe. The refreshing and spicy flavor of the scallions and peppers will complement the pollack roe, enhancing its overall taste.
Step 3
Now it’s time to add all the seasoning ingredients. Add 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic, 0.5 Tbsp of plum extract, 1 Tbsp of sesame oil, and 0.5 Tbsp of red pepper flakes to the container with the pollack roe and vegetables. The sesame oil adds richness, the plum extract slightly balances the saltiness of the roe while adding umami, and the red pepper flakes add color and a hint of spice.
Step 4
Cover the container with plastic wrap. It’s best to wrap it tightly so it adheres closely to the ingredients. Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage, so it’s recommended to check after 1 minute 30 seconds.
Step 5
Once cooked, carefully remove the container from the microwave and unwrap the plastic. Gently stir the pollack roe and seasonings with chopsticks. The cooked, softened pollack roe will blend beautifully with the seasoning, creating an appetizing dish. Enjoy this incredibly simple microwave pollack roe dish while it’s warm – the salty and savory flavors are exquisite! It’s also delicious served over rice as a quick donburi.
