Super Simple Microwave Egg Custard Recipe
Microwave Egg Custard

Introducing an incredibly simple way to make steamed eggs using just your microwave. Perfect for busy days!
Ingredients- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup Water
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Scallions
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Carrots
Seasoning- 0.5 Tbsp Shrimp Paste
- 0.5 Tbsp Shrimp Paste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a microwave-safe bowl that’s slightly wider (to prevent overflow), crack 2 eggs. Add 1 cup of water, 0.5 tablespoon of shrimp paste, 1 tablespoon of chopped scallions, and 1 tablespoon of chopped carrots. Mix everything together thoroughly with a fork or whisk until well combined and smooth. You can substitute the carrots with finely chopped imitation crab meat or ham for a different flavor profile that kids might enjoy. To cover the bowl, use a slightly larger plate or a lid designed for microwave use. If you don’t have a lid, plastic wrap secured over the top will work, but poke a few holes in it to allow steam to escape. Microwave on high for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, check the consistency. If it’s not fully set, microwave for another 2 minutes. The total cooking time is approximately 5 minutes, but this can vary depending on the amount of egg and water, and the power of your microwave. It’s best to check after the initial 3 minutes and adjust as needed.

Step 2
To check if the egg custard is fully cooked, gently press the surface with a spoon. If clear liquid comes out, it’s done. If it still looks too wet, microwave for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become rubbery.

Step 3
Your fluffy and moist microwave egg custard is ready! Enjoy it warm for the best texture. It’s a wonderful side dish for rice or a delightful snack.
