  • 1/3 onion
  • 1/3 carrot
  • 10cm piece of green onion

Seasoning
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 0.1 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the 100g of fish cakes. Cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4cm in length, perfect for a single bite for both adults and children. You can also julienne them thinly if you prefer.

Step 2

Prepare the vegetables to add color and flavor. Slice 1/3 onion and 1/3 carrot into pieces similar in size and shape to the cut fish cakes. Adding vegetables makes the dish more vibrant in taste and texture.

Step 3

Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add 2 tsp of cooking oil and 1 tsp of minced garlic. Sauté until the garlic becomes fragrant, which will add depth to the dish.

Step 4

Add the sliced carrots and onions to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat for about 10-20 seconds. Cooking them briefly will help retain their crispness.

Step 5

Now, add the prepared fish cakes to the pan. Stir-fry them together with the vegetables, ensuring they are well mixed and coated. It’s important to stir-fry them so the fish cakes absorb the flavors.

Step 6

Add the seasoning to enhance the savory taste. Pour in 2 tsp of soy sauce and 1 tsp of sugar. Continue to stir-fry until the fish cakes are seasoned. Adjust the seasoning to your preference, ensuring it’s not too salty.

Step 7

Finally, add the 10cm piece of chopped green onion and stir-fry for another moment. Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 0.5 tsp of sesame oil for a fragrant finish.

Step 8

Sprinkle 1 tsp of sesame seeds over the dish for added nuttiness. Give everything a final gentle toss to combine the ingredients well.

Step 9

There you have it – delicious stir-fried fish cakes! Serve it over hot rice for a simple rice bowl, or enjoy it as a side dish. Enjoy your meal!
