Super Simple 3-Minute Microwave Steamed Eggs
Quick & Easy Side Dish: Microwave Steamed Eggs (Gyeranjjim)
Let’s make some steamed eggs that take less than 3 minutes to prepare!
Ingredients- 2 large eggs
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 handful of chopped green onions (about 1/4 cup)
- 1/3 cup water (approx. 60ml)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
I’ll introduce how to make super easy and quick steamed eggs in the microwave, perfect for kids or busy mornings.
Step 2
Start by cracking 2 large eggs into a microwave-safe bowl. For 2 eggs, about 1/3 cup (60ml) of water is ideal. If you’re using 3 eggs, you might want to increase the water slightly and extend the cooking time to around 5 minutes. Add a pinch of salt to the egg mixture and whisk well.
Step 3
Next, finely chop your green onions. Add the chopped green onions to the egg mixture. Make sure to use a microwave-safe container for this recipe!
Step 4
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. This is a crucial step: poke several holes in the plastic wrap using a fork. If you don’t poke holes, the steam can build up inside and cause the container to burst! Alternatively, you can leave one corner of the plastic wrap slightly unsealed.
Step 5
Place the bowl in the microwave and cook for just 3 minutes. (This is for 2 eggs at around 700W. Adjust cooking time based on your microwave’s power and the number of eggs used).
Step 6
And there you have it! Delicious steamed eggs ready in a flash. You don’t need to stand by the stove or stir constantly. This easy microwave method yields wonderfully moist and fluffy steamed eggs that everyone, especially children, will love.
