Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables for your tender beef stir-fry. Wash the onion, cucumber pepper, and green onion thoroughly. Slice them thinly into strips. Aim for uniform thickness so they cook evenly.
Step 2
Gently pat dry the grilling beef with paper towels to remove excess blood. Then, slice the beef into strips similar in length to the vegetables. Avoid slicing too thinly, as it might break apart during cooking.
Step 3
Here’s the secret to extra tender beef! Place the beef slices between plastic wrap or paper towels, and gently pound them flat with a meat tenderizer or the back of a knife. This breaks down the connective tissues, making the beef much more tender to chew.
Step 4
Heat a pan over high heat and add 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the prepared beef. Pour in 1/2 tablespoon of calamansi juice concentrate and 1 tablespoon of mirin. Calamansi helps to remove any gamey odor from the beef and tenderizes it.
Step 5
Stir-fry the beef quickly over high heat, using chopsticks to separate the pieces so they don’t stick together. Once the surface of the beef turns white, proceed to the next step.
Step 6
When the beef is partially cooked, add all the sliced vegetables – onion, cucumber pepper, and green onion – to the pan and stir-fry them together with the beef.
Step 7
Now it’s time to add the flavorings! Add 1.5 tablespoons of minced kiwi, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Stir and toss everything together, ensuring the beef and vegetables are well combined. This recipe is seasoned lightly, so feel free to add more soy sauce or a pinch of salt to suit your taste.
Step 8
Finally, sprinkle a dash of dried basil and ground black pepper for extra flavor. Stir everything together one last time to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed. Your delicious tender beef stir-fry is ready! Serve it over warm rice for a wonderful meal.
