Super Easy Pork Belly Kimchi Canapés
An incredibly simple dish… Pork Belly Kimchi Canapés
Made very simply with pork belly. These canapés are a delightful blend of crispy pork belly, tangy kimchi, and smooth silken tofu, perfect for a quick snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 200g Pork Belly, thinly sliced
- 3 pieces Napa Cabbage Kimchi (or well-fermented kimchi)
- 1/2 block Silken Tofu
- 1 Tbsp Mate Powder (optional, for enhanced flavor)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Take the thinly sliced pork belly. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat without adding any oil. Grill the pork belly slices until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Since pork belly releases a lot of fat, you can dab it with paper towels occasionally to keep it from getting too greasy. Once cooked, cut the pork belly into bite-sized pieces.
Step 2
Lightly sprinkle the crispy pork belly pieces with mate powder (optional) to add an extra layer of flavor. If you don’t have mate powder, you can skip this step.
Step 3
Prepare your kimchi. It’s best to use well-fermented kimchi that has a good balance of tanginess and spice. Include the stem parts of the kimchi for a pleasant crunch.
Step 4
Place a suitable amount of kimchi on top of each crispy pork belly piece. Then, cut them into manageable, bite-sized portions for easy eating. Be mindful not to overload with kimchi to avoid excessive saltiness.
Step 5
Gently spoon a dollop of silken tofu on top of the pork belly and kimchi. The soft, creamy texture of the tofu will beautifully complement the crispy pork and spicy kimchi, creating a delightful contrast.
Step 6
Finally, dust a little more mate powder over the silken tofu. Your Pork Belly Kimchi Canapés are now complete! They are incredibly simple to make yet offer a surprisingly sophisticated and delicious taste. Enjoy this unique and easy recipe!
