Super Easy Menbosha Made with an Air Fryer

I made this Menbosha recipe specially for my husband’s birthday! It’s simple to make and incredibly delicious. It’s perfect for a special occasion or even a satisfying snack.

Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Seafood
  • Occasion : Quick & Easy
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 60 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 200g shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 egg white
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 package sandwich bread (approx. 5-6 slices)
  • Olive oil, as needed

Dipping Sauce

  • Chili sauce, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 200g of fresh shrimp. Peel the shrimp and remove the devein (the dark line along the back) for a cleaner taste.

Step 1

Step 2

Finely chop the prepared shrimp using a knife or a food processor. Don’t make it too mushy; leaving a little texture will enhance the flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

Trim the crusts off the sandwich bread. Cut each slice into 4 equal pieces, slightly larger than bite-sized. You should have about 20-24 pieces.

Step 3

Step 4

Lightly brush olive oil on one side of each piece of bread. This oiled side will be placed facing down in the air fryer. This step helps achieve a crispier texture.

Step 4

Step 5

In a bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, egg white, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix and knead until the mixture becomes slightly sticky and cohesive. Spread this shrimp mixture generously onto the bread pieces.

Step 5

Step 6

Lightly brush the top of the shrimp mixture on each bread piece with olive oil. Arrange the prepared Menbosha in a single layer in your air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. Air fry at approximately 145-150°C (293-302°F) for 10-15 minutes. Flipping them halfway through will ensure even cooking.

Step 6

Step 7

After 10-15 minutes, check if the Menbosha is golden brown and crispy. If it needs more cooking, continue for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Step 8

Arrange the perfectly cooked Menbosha on a plate. They are ready to serve! Dipping them in chili sauce while hot creates a wonderful contrast of crispy exterior and tender, juicy interior. Enjoy your delicious Menbosha!
