- 1 Fresh Green Onion
- 1 Carrot
- 10 Whole Chestnuts
- A few Dried Red Chilies
- A little Rice Cake (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a large, deep pot, arrange the beef short ribs in batches of two. Layer the prepped carrots on top, followed by another two ribs, and then generously add the whole chestnuts. Pour in the delicious broth provided in the meal kit until it covers the ingredients. Cover the pot and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. For the carrots, it’s a good idea to round off their edges for a softer texture, especially if serving to children.

The broth is starting to boil, and a wonderful aroma is filling the kitchen. The ribs and vegetables are coming together, preparing to create a rich and savory flavor.
Step 3
Once the broth is boiling vigorously, add the dried red chilies to impart a mild spicy note. Finally, add the rice cakes for a chewy texture and the green onion for freshness. Feel free to adjust the amount of rice cakes to your preference.
Step 4
Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer until the flavors meld beautifully. For an even richer and more profound taste, consider transferring the contents to a cast-iron pot. Simmering gently in a cast-iron pot will further enhance the juiciness of the ribs, resulting in an exceptionally tender and delicious Galbi-jjim. Continue simmering for approximately another 20-30 minutes.
