Main Ingredients- 4 imitation crab sticks (krab meat sticks)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 stalk green onion (scallion)
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
Special Donburi Sauce- 5 Tbsp water
- 0.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp ‘Yeon-du’ (Korean seasoning soy sauce) (can substitute with soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp vinegar
- 1 Tbsp mirin (sweet cooking wine)
- 3 Tbsp starch slurry (1 Tbsp cornstarch + 2 Tbsp water)
- 5 Tbsp water
- 0.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp ‘Yeon-du’ (Korean seasoning soy sauce) (can substitute with soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp vinegar
- 1 Tbsp mirin (sweet cooking wine)
- 3 Tbsp starch slurry (1 Tbsp cornstarch + 2 Tbsp water)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, tear the imitation crab sticks into four long strips each. Wash the green onion thoroughly and thinly slice both the white and green parts. These are important ingredients to add flavor to your egg donburi.
Step 2
In a wide bowl, combine the torn imitation crab sticks, sliced green onion, and 4 fresh eggs. Whisk everything together gently with a whisk until well combined. Ensure the egg mixture coats the crab sticks and green onions smoothly.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the donburi sauce! In a pot, combine the water, oyster sauce, Yeon-du, dark soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, and mirin (excluding the starch slurry). Stir well. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and be ready for the next step.
Step 4
Once the sauce starts to bubble, gradually add the pre-mixed starch slurry while stirring quickly. It’s best to add the starch slurry incrementally, checking the consistency as you go, rather than pouring it all at once. Be careful to avoid lumps.
Step 5
Continue to cook and stir until the sauce reaches your desired thickness, becoming rich and glossy. Watch the heat to prevent it from burning. Your delicious donburi sauce is now ready!
Step 6
Next, it’s time to cook the eggs. Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in another pan. Add the egg mixture along with the sliced green onion and torn imitation crab sticks. Make sure the ingredients don’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
Step 7
Using chopsticks, quickly stir and scramble the mixture as you cook. The key is to cook the eggs until they are just set and still moist, not dry or overcooked. Aim for a fluffy, tender texture.
Step 8
Place a generous serving of warm rice into your serving bowl. Carefully spoon the moist, scrambled crab stick and egg mixture on top of the rice. The combination of rice and egg is already making your mouth water!
Step 9
Finally, generously drizzle the special donburi sauce over the eggs and rice. For an extra touch, garnish with a little more sliced green onion if desired. Your incredibly delicious Crab Stick and Egg Donburi is complete. Enjoy your meal!
