This super simple recipe comes together in just 5 minutes, making it a hassle-free meal for busy mornings or lunches. All you need is a bowl of rice and fresh yeolmu kimchi to create a delicious bibimbap.
Basic Ingredients
- 1 bowl of warm rice (approx. 200g)
- 100g well-fermented yeolmu kimchi (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp savory sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp fragrant toasted sesame seeds (adjust to taste)
Optional Ingredient: Fried Egg
- 1 fresh egg
- 2 tsp cooking oil
- 1 fresh egg
- 2 tsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare a delicious fried egg. Heat 2 tsp of cooking oil in a frying pan. Carefully crack 1 egg into the pan. I usually prefer to cook it sunny-side up, letting the egg whites get slightly crispy around the edges over medium heat on the stove. This way, the yolk remains wonderfully runny, adding a creamier texture when mixed into the bibimbap.
Step 2
Place 1 serving of warm rice (about 200g) into a large, deep mixing bowl. Spread the rice gently so it doesn’t clump together.
Step 3
Arrange 100g of the prepared yeolmu kimchi on top of the rice. It’s best to chop the yeolmu kimchi into manageable, bite-sized pieces that will mix well with the rice.
Step 4
Now, add 1 Tbsp of gochujang on top of the yeolmu kimchi. You can adjust the amount of gochujang according to your preference for spiciness.
Step 5
Drizzle 1 Tbsp of savory sesame oil over everything. The nutty aroma of the sesame oil will further stimulate your appetite.
Step 6
Finally, gently place the freshly fried egg on top of the bibimbap and sprinkle with 1 Tbsp of fragrant toasted sesame seeds. Your visually appealing and delicious Yeolmu Gochujang Bibimbap is complete! Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon or chopsticks and enjoy!
