Street Toast (Korean-Style Sandwich)
Quick and Hearty Breakfast Solution! Cha Seung Won’s Street Toast from ‘Three Meals a Day’
Hello, it’s Jjinyeong’s Mom 🙂 Mornings can sometimes feel like a burden when it comes to making breakfast, right? Today, I’m going to solve that with the ‘Street Toast’ that Cha Seung Won made famous on the show ‘Three Meals a Day’! It’s a perfectly satisfying breakfast.
Ingredients- 1/4 head Cabbage
- 2 slices Ham
- 1/4 Onion
- 2 Eggs
- 2 slices Bread
- Strawberry Jam
- Mayonnaise
- Ketchup
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thinly shred the cabbage. It should look like the classic cabbage salad served with fried chicken! Place the shredded cabbage in a bowl. Mix mayonnaise and ketchup in a 2:1 ratio. Add a pinch of black pepper to taste for a delicious cabbage salad. Preparing the salad in advance will save you time when cooking.
Step 2
Instead of using grated carrots in the egg mixture, finely chopped onion is added for an extra boost of umami. Heat a lightly oiled pan over low heat. Pour in the egg mixture and cook until golden brown, creating an omelet. Once cooked, carefully cut the omelet into four equal pieces. This makes them easy to fit onto the bread.
Step 3
Melt some butter in the pan and grill the ham slices and bread until golden brown on both sides. Grilling the ham slightly makes it more flavorful, and toasting the bread until crispy adds a wonderful texture. These prepared ingredients will enhance the overall flavor of your toast.
Step 4
Now, let’s assemble the toast! Spread a generous layer of strawberry jam on one side of a slice of toasted bread. Pile the prepared cabbage salad on top. Then, layer the four pieces of cooked omelet and the grilled ham. Finally, top it with the other slice of bread. Your hearty and delicious street toast is ready! Slice it in half and enjoy it while it’s warm for the best taste.
