The Perfect Harmony of Fragrant Strawberries and Soft French Toast

Strawberry French Toast: A Weekend Morning Treat to Make Your Day Special

Weekends are already here! Time truly flies, doesn’t it? This past week was a whirlwind: visiting the flower market, attending my nephew’s graduation, getting my car repaired, and shopping for my son’s high school essentials like his uniform, bag, and shoes. I even had a nice shopping trip with him. To reward ourselves after such a busy week, my son decided to transform some slightly stale bread into a delightful weekend breakfast: Strawberry French Toast! No matter who makes it, food is always delicious, but toast made with love by my son on a weekend morning tastes even better. Enjoy a richer weekend morning with the perfect blend of fresh strawberries and sweet toast!

  • Ingredient Category : Fruits
  • Occasion : Snack
  • Cooking : Pan-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (slightly stale or old bread works wonderfully)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (approx. 120ml)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • A pinch of dried parsley (optional, can substitute with cinnamon)
  • Whipped cream or powdered sugar (for topping)
  • Fresh strawberries (to taste)
  • Butter (for cooking)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the bread. Cut each slice of bread in half lengthwise, then cut each half diagonally to create triangle shapes. This helps the egg mixture soak in evenly and makes them easier to cook.

Step 1

Step 2

In a bowl, crack 3 large eggs. Add 1/2 cup of milk and a pinch of salt. Whisk everything together thoroughly with a whisk until well combined. A pinch of salt helps to cut through any eggy smell and contributes to a smoother texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Add a pinch of dried parsley to the egg mixture and stir. (My son remembered to add this later!) Parsley adds a subtle aroma and color. If you have cinnamon powder at home, adding some will enhance the fragrance and flavor even further. Dip the triangular bread slices into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated and the liquid has a chance to soak into the bread.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and melt a generous amount of butter. You’ll know it’s ready when the butter is melted and smells wonderfully fragrant.

Step 4

Step 5

Carefully place the egg-coated bread slices into the hot pan. Cook each side until it turns a beautiful golden brown and looks deliciously toasted. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning.

Step 5

Step 6

Prepare the fresh strawberries. Wash them gently, then slice them thinly, leaving a small bit of the stem intact if desired. This slicing method makes them perfect for arranging on top of the French toast.

Step 6

Step 7

Arrange the golden-brown French toast slices attractively on a serving plate. For a balanced meal, consider adding a side salad with fresh lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber, and banana. Decorate the French toast by artfully placing the sliced strawberries on top.

Step 7

Step 8

For the final touch, if you’d like extra sweetness, lightly dust powdered sugar over the French toast using a sieve. This adds a lovely visual appeal and a touch of sweetness. (My son opted for whipped cream instead of powdered sugar!)

Step 8

Step 9

For a rich and decadent finish, pipe a generous swirl of whipped cream onto the French toast. (My son is on a diet these days, so he skipped the whipped cream for himself and prepared it for the rest of us!) Savor the delightful combination of creamy whipped cream, tangy strawberries, and crispy French toast. Your perfect weekend breakfast is ready!
