Main Ingredients- 300g seaweed stems
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 carrot
- 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic
Seasoning- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the seaweed stems thoroughly and soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess salt. This step reduces the saltiness, making them more palatable.
Step 2
While the seaweed stems are soaking, peel and thinly slice the onion and carrot into julienne strips. Slice them not too thick so they retain a nice texture when stir-fried.
Step 3
Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the seaweed stems for about 4 minutes. Immediately drain and rinse them under cold water to cool down. Squeeze out any excess water firmly. This process helps the seaweed stems achieve a more firm and springy texture.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat, add a generous amount of cooking oil, and sauté the minced garlic (1.5 Tbsp) until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Cook until a pleasant garlic aroma is released.
Step 5
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the julienned onion and carrot to the pan. Stir-fry them together until the vegetables become translucent and slightly softened.
Step 6
When the onion and carrot are sufficiently cooked, add the squeezed seaweed stems. Stir-fry everything together for another 2 to 3 minutes, ensuring the seaweed stems are well combined with the other vegetables.
Step 7
Once all ingredients are well stir-fried, add the seasoning: 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry quickly to distribute the seasoning evenly. Adjust the salt to your preference. Your delicious stir-fried seaweed stems are now ready!
