Main Ingredients
  • 500g radish (about one hand span)
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2/3 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp crushed sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp perilla oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the radish thoroughly, peel it, and then slice it into thin strips about 0.4cm thick, following the grain of the radish. The thickness is important; too thick and it will take a long time to cook, too thin and the texture might be less satisfying.

Step 2

Preheat a pot or pan over medium heat. Add the prepared radish strips, 1 tsp of salt, 2/3 Tbsp of minced garlic, and 1/2 tsp of perilla oil. Stir-fry for 1 minute, then cover with a lid and let it sit for 5-6 minutes. This initial stir-fry helps to slightly evaporate the radish’s moisture, allowing it to absorb seasonings better. Letting it sit with the lid on allows the radish to soften gently.

Step 3

Once the radish is tender, add 1/2 tsp of soy sauce, 1/2 Tbsp of crushed sesame seeds, and 1/2 tsp of sesame oil. Quickly toss everything together until well combined. Avoid overcooking, as the radish can become mushy. Just mix until the seasonings are evenly distributed for a delicious stir-fried radish side dish!
