Fish cakes are delicious no matter how you cook them, but a basic style stir-fried with soy sauce is a great everyday side dish. The combination of fish cake and sweet onion is especially wonderful! This recipe is made without oil, making it a cleaner and healthier option.
Main Ingredients
- 3 sheets of square fish cake
- 1/2 onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the square fish cakes into bite-sized pieces (about 1cm thick). Slice the onion into similar-sized strips for a pleasing texture when cooked.
Step 2
Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp of water. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Sprinkle a pinch of salt to enhance the onion’s natural sweetness and lightly season. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until the onion becomes translucent and you can smell the garlic.
Step 3
Once the onion starts to turn translucent, add the prepared fish cakes. Stir-fry together for about 1 minute until the fish cakes are heated through and slightly chewy.
Step 4
Now it’s time to add the flavor. Add 1 Tbsp of water and 1.5 Tbsp of soy sauce to the pan. Continue to stir-fry for about 3 minutes, allowing the sauce to coat the ingredients evenly. This step infuses the fish cakes and onions with a rich soy sauce flavor.
Step 5
Finally, turn off the heat. If you prefer a touch of sweetness, drizzle in some oligodang. For a nutty aroma, add 1 Tbsp of sesame oil. Gently toss everything together to combine. Your delicious stir-fried fish cake and onion is ready!
