Basic Ingredients

  • 1 head of fresh broccoli
  • 10 frozen shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 7 cloves of garlic

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin or sake)
  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare one head of fresh broccoli. Cut the florets into bite-sized pieces that are easy to eat. Thoroughly wash the cut broccoli florets and pat them dry to remove excess water.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, prepare 10 frozen shrimp. Thaw them in cold water, then rinse them under running water and drain well. It’s important to maintain the fresh flavor of the shrimp.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare 7 cloves of garlic and slice them thinly into slivers. Slicing the garlic into slivers will enhance its aroma when stir-fried, elevating the dish’s flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce! In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, and 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds. Whisk everything together until well combined. A properly mixed sauce is key to a perfectly finished dish.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium-high heat. Add the sliced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Once the garlic aroma releases, add the prepared shrimp and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry quickly until the shrimp turn pink.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the shrimp are partially cooked and have changed color, add the prepared broccoli florets to the pan. Stir-fry briefly until the broccoli is slightly tender. Then, pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together to ensure the sauce evenly coats all the ingredients. (Tip: Broccoli can become mushy if overcooked. If you prefer a crispier texture, stir-fry for a shorter time. If you prefer a softer texture, you can blanch the broccoli beforehand. Today, we’ll stir-fry it directly for a fresh texture!)

Step 6

Step 7

Since we’re adding the broccoli raw, it’s best to cover the pan and let it cook. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 5 minutes with the lid on. This allows the broccoli to cook through while retaining moisture and becoming tender. Remove the lid and stir-fry for a little longer until the sauce thickens slightly, and your delicious Broccoli and Shrimp Stir-Fry is ready.

Step 7

Step 8

Here is your ‘Stir-Fried Broccoli with Shrimp,’ a perfect harmony of nutritious broccoli and savory shrimp! The broccoli remains crisp because it wasn’t blanched, and the sauce, a blend of soy sauce and oyster sauce, offers a deep, non-overpowering flavor that enhances the natural taste of the ingredients. This super simple dish can be made in under 10 minutes with minimal ingredients. Enjoy a healthy and delicious meal!
