First, to remove the bitterness from the bellflower root, soak it in cold water for at least 1 hour. It’s even better if you change the water once or twice during this time.

After soaking to remove the bitterness, drain the bellflower root slightly. Add a little coarse salt and a little sugar, then gently massage it with your hands. This process will draw out the slightly bitter juices, making the water cloudy. This step further helps to eliminate the bitterness.
