Steamed Pork Belly with Vegetables
Creative Use for Leftover Boiled Pork Belly: Steamed Vegetables
A delightful way to use leftover boiled pork belly, transforming it into a nutritious and flavorful steamed dish with fresh vegetables. Perfect for a quick and healthy meal.
Main Ingredients- Boiled pork belly 300g (leftover)
- Onion 1/2 medium
- Green onion 1 stalk
- Bell pepper 1 (any color)
- Bean sprouts 200g
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by thoroughly washing all the vegetables. Remove the seeds from the bell pepper and onion, then slice them into bite-sized pieces, about 1-2 cm thick. Slice the green onion diagonally, focusing on the white parts. Gently rinse the bean sprouts under running water and drain well. Slice the leftover boiled pork belly into manageable pieces.
Step 2
Prepare the steamer. Spread a generous layer of the washed bean sprouts at the bottom of the steamer basket. The bean sprouts will wilt significantly when steamed, so don’t be shy with the amount.
Step 3
Arrange the sliced bell pepper, onion, and green onion attractively over the bean sprouts. Next, carefully place the sliced boiled pork belly on top of the vegetables. Layering the ingredients like this will make the dish visually appealing.
Step 4
Fill your steamer with water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once steam is produced, carefully place the steamer basket with the ingredients inside. Steam for approximately 10-15 minutes. Since the pork belly is already cooked, the goal is to soften the vegetables and heat everything through. Ensure the lid is sealed to trap the steam effectively.
Step 5
While the vegetables and pork belly are steaming, prepare the delicious dipping sauce. In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp mirin, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Whisk them together until well blended. For a little extra flavor, you can add a touch of minced garlic or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Step 6
Once steamed, carefully transfer the vegetables and pork belly to a serving plate. Drizzle the prepared sweet soy dipping sauce over the dish, or serve it on the side for dipping. The natural sweetness of the steamed vegetables combined with the tender pork belly creates a healthy and satisfying meal that everyone will enjoy.
