  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • Beef brisket (chadolbagi) 300g
  • Chives or garlic chives, a small handful
  • Bean sprouts, 1/2 pack (approx. 150g)
  • Carrot, thinly julienned
  • Kalguksu noodles (Korean knife-cut noodles), 1 serving

Steaming Broth Ingredients

  • Green onion (scallion), 1/2 stalk
  • Minced garlic, 1 Tbsp
  • Salt, a pinch
  • Black pepper, a pinch

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently press the beef brisket slices with paper towels to absorb any excess blood. This step helps to remove any gamey smell and ensures a cleaner flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the chives and cut them into lengths similar to the width of the beef brisket slices. Thinly julienne the carrot. Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under cold running water and shake off any excess water.

Step 2

Step 3

Arrange the prepared vegetables (chives, carrot, and bean sprouts) evenly over the beef brisket slices.

Step 3

Step 4

Carefully roll up the beef brisket slices, encasing the vegetables within. Roll them tightly so they hold their shape well during steaming.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the rolled beef brisket and vegetable bundles neatly in a steaming basket or rack. Arrange them without overcrowding so that they steam evenly.

Step 5

Step 6

Fill the steamer pot with water or broth. Add the chopped green onion, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper to create the steaming liquid. (Tip: You can also add any leftover vegetable scraps or even the remaining ingredients from the broth here to create a more flavorful base for steaming!)

Step 6

Step 7

Cover the steamer with its lid and steam for approximately 5 to 7 minutes, or until the beef brisket is tender and cooked through. Since the brisket is thinly sliced, it cooks quickly.

Step 7

Step 8

After about 5 minutes of steaming, the beef brisket is perfectly tender. Carefully remove the steaming basket from the pot and arrange the beautifully cooked brisket rolls on a serving plate.

Step 8

Step 9

Once plated attractively, your delicious steamed beef brisket is ready to be served. Enjoy it while it’s warm for the best taste and texture.

Step 9

Step 10

Finally, for a satisfying meal, you can cook the kalguksu noodles in the flavorful broth remaining in the steamer. The broth, infused with the essence of the beef and vegetables, makes for an exceptionally delicious noodle soup!
