Main Ingredients- 135g canned tuna (drained)
- 1 onion (medium size)
- 2 Korean green chili peppers (cheongyang peppers)
- 3 bowls of cooked rice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to your rice bowl. Peel and wash the onion thoroughly under running water, then finely mince it. Mincing it uniformly will ensure it cooks evenly and faster.
Step 2
Next, prepare the Korean green chili peppers for a spicy kick. Remove the stems, wash them, and thinly slice them into rounds. If you prefer less heat, especially for children, you can adjust the amount or omit them.
Step 3
In a wide, deep pan, combine the minced onion and the drained canned tuna. Add the sugar (1 Tbsp), minced garlic (1 Tbsp), soy sauce (1 Tbsp), and seasoned soy sauce (2 Tbsp) for a rich umami flavor. Mix everything well.
Step 4
Now, heat the pan over medium heat and stir-fry the onion and tuna until well combined and the seasonings are absorbed. Cook until the onion becomes translucent and the tuna looks glossy. Stir for about 3-4 minutes, being careful not to burn the ingredients.
Step 5
Once the onion and tuna are partially cooked, add the sliced Korean green chili peppers and continue to stir-fry. Cooking for another 1-2 minutes will release a wonderful spicy aroma and enhance the overall flavor of the dish.
Step 6
Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 3 tablespoons of sesame oil. Stir it in quickly; the aromatic sesame oil will infuse the dish with a delicious nutty fragrance.
Step 7
Prepare the fried eggs to serve with the rice bowl. Heat a little oil in a frying pan and fry the eggs to your preference – sunny-side up (runny yolk) or fully cooked. A runny yolk is perfect for mixing into the rice.
Step 8
Now, all the components are ready! Serve 3 bowls of hot cooked rice. Generously spoon the prepared spicy tuna mixture over the rice. Top with a beautifully fried egg. Finally, sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds for extra flavor and visual appeal. Enjoy your delicious Spicy Tuna Rice Bowl!
