Spicy & Sweet Sauce

- 3 packets of bibim-myeon seasoning mix
- 1/3 can of whelk brine (about 3-4 Tbsp)
- 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 3 packets of bibim-myeon seasoning mix
- 1/3 can of whelk brine (about 3-4 Tbsp)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all your fresh ingredients. If you don’t have bibim-myeon, regular instant ramen works wonderfully too! Thinly slice the cucumber, cabbage, and onion to maintain their crisp texture. Tear the lettuce leaves into manageable pieces.
Step 2
Open the canned whelks. Drain the brine into a separate bowl, reserving it for the sauce. Cut the whelks in half if desired, or leave them whole. Ensure you keep that flavorful whelk brine!
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped kimchi, the 3 packets of bibim-myeon seasoning mix, 2 tablespoons of gochujang, and the reserved 1/3 can of whelk brine. Mix thoroughly to create a delicious, well-balanced sauce. Gently toss in the julienned cucumber, shredded cabbage, and sliced onion into the sauce.
Step 4
Boil water in a pot and cook the bibim-myeon noodles according to package directions (usually 3 minutes). Immediately drain the noodles and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch and cool them down. Drain them completely. Place the cooled noodles over the prepared sauce and vegetables, and top with the torn lettuce leaves.
Step 5
Using chopsticks or a fork, gently mix the noodles with the sauce, kimchi, and vegetables until everything is evenly coated. Your delicious Whelk Kimchi Bibim-myeon is ready! Enjoy the delightful combination of chewy noodles, crunchy vegetables, and savory whelks.
