Main Ingredients- 1 Squid (cleaned)
- 5 strips Pork Belly (approx. 200-250g)
- 1 Onion (medium-sized)
- 1 handful Bean Sprouts (approx. 50-70g)
- 1 Korean Red Chili (Cheongyang chili, or adjust to your spice preference)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the vegetables. Peel and thinly slice the onion. Finely chop the Korean red chili. (Tip: While not traditional, adding bean sprouts at this stage brings a delightful crunch to the dish!)
Step 2
Clean the squid thoroughly. Briefly blanch it in boiling water for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. This prevents the squid from becoming tough and releasing too much water. Once blanched, cut it into bite-sized pieces.
Step 3
Cut the 5 strips of pork belly into bite-sized pieces using scissors or a knife. Avoid cutting them too small, as they will shrink when cooked. Place the cut pork belly into a bowl.
Step 4
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. In a separate bowl, combine 3 Tbsp Gochujang, 5 Tbsp Gochugaru, 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 3 Tbsp Maesil Cheong, 2 Tbsp Oligodang, and 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic. Mix well. (Tip: Preparing the sauce in advance and marinating the meat ensures the flavors penetrate deeply for a richer taste!)
Step 5
Pour the prepared sauce over the pork belly in the bowl. Using your hands, gently mix and massage the sauce into the pork until well-coated. Add the prepared squid and mix again. Finally, drizzle in 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil and mix lightly. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 6
Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated O-Sam Bulgogi and stir-fry. Once the pork starts to cook, add the sliced onions and continue to stir-fry until the onions become translucent.
Step 7
Once the onions are cooked, add the bean sprouts generously. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly, ensuring the bean sprouts remain crisp. You’ll soon smell the irresistible aroma of O-Sam Bulgogi wafting through your kitchen!
Step 8
And there you have it! Your delicious, spicy-sweet, and chewy O-Sam Bulgogi is ready. It looks as tempting as it tastes!
Step 9
The combination of the crisp bean sprouts, tender pork belly, and chewy squid is simply outstanding. If you’re pondering tonight’s dinner, try wrapping this O-Sam Bulgogi in lettuce leaves for a burst of happiness in every bite! It’s perfect as a side dish or even as a savory snack.
