Easy and Delicious Spam Gochujang Fried Rice Recipe
This is a simple yet incredibly flavorful fried rice featuring Spam and gochujang (Korean chili paste). It’s quick to make and packed with a delightful spicy and sweet taste that coats every grain of rice. Perfect for a satisfying meal!
Main Ingredients
- 200g Spam (1 can)
- 100g Pizza cheese (mozzarella)
- 1/3 medium zucchini
- 1/2 medium carrot
- 1 medium potato
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1/3 stalk green onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 eggs
Seasoning
- 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 3 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup) or mulyeot (starch syrup)
- 1.5 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 2 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients needed for a delicious Spam Gochujang Fried Rice. Wash and trim the vegetables.
Step 2
Dice the potato, carrot, zucchini, and onion into approximately 0.5cm (1/4 inch) pieces. Finely chop the green onion and mince or smash the garlic cloves. Cut the Spam into 0.5cm (1/4 inch) cubes.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, oligodang, gochugaru, and sesame oil. Mix well until smooth to create the seasoning sauce. Adjust the amount of oligodang to your preferred sweetness.
Step 4
Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a skillet or wok over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and garlic, and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. This step builds a flavorful base.
Step 5
Add the vegetables in order of cooking time, starting with the harder ones. Add the carrots and potatoes and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Then, add the onion and cook for another minute. Next, add the diced Spam and cook until it’s lightly browned. Finally, add the zucchini and stir-fry just until it softens slightly.
Step 6
Once the vegetables and Spam are nicely sautéed, add the cooked rice to the skillet. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry thoroughly, ensuring the rice is mixed with the other ingredients.
Step 7
When the rice is well combined with the ingredients, add all of the prepared spicy and sweet seasoning sauce. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly to ensure the sauce evenly coats every grain of rice. Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of pizza cheese over the top and cover the pan for about a minute to melt the cheese.
Step 8
Transfer the finished fried rice to a serving bowl, piling it high.

In a separate small pan, heat a little cooking oil and fry the eggs to your preference, aiming for a sunny-side-up with a runny yolk for extra richness.
Step 10
Place the freshly fried egg on top of the hot fried rice. Break the yolk and mix it into the rice for a wonderfully creamy and delicious bite. Enjoy!
